KCW Summer 13/ Day 2/ Jinbei

I made "Jinbei" for T today, KCW Summer Day2.

I know you're wondering, " What's Jinbei?"

A jinbei (甚平^?), alternately jinbē (甚兵衛^?) or hippari (ひっぱり^?), is a kind of traditional Japanese clothing worn by men, women, boys, girls, and even babies during the summer. (from Wikipedia)

Yes. It's traditional Japanese clothes for Summer, and while big girls wear Yukata(Kimono style summer clothes), toddler or baby girls wear Jinbei like for Summer festivals. It is the outfit of kimono style top and plain shorts( since there were no shorts in ancient Japan, real Jinbei is only the top part and it was longer).

 

I used gauze fabric from JoAnn which was too sheer so I added lining to the shorts ( for not to show her diaper through shorts, I didn't add lining to the top cause she would wear something under it anyway).

I found pattern and instruction on Japanese website. In case if you are interested... I will make tutorial or so, but I don't think anyone need one;)

 

I'm not sure if you know, but, T really looks like Chihiro of Japanese animation movie "Spirited Away".
