This is a skirt #1 for Skirt Week 2013 at Crafterhours! ( that means I'm planning to make another ones.. not sure though) ( and if you don't know about Skirt Week, please read this post and you will know everything about it! )
It's really simple project. The skirt is simple gathered one and I added two fabric flowers on it. Done!! Yes, it's that simple, but it's enough cute, isn't it?
Here is mini tutorial how to make this skirt.
1. Make a skirt. it can be gathered, with elastic waist, or A-line and I think circle skirt is fine.
I used the gathered skirt pattern of this book. This skirt has two layers, I made top layer with chambray fabric and second layer with floral fabric ( actually it is a vintage sheet I got at thrift store).
2. Make fabric flowers.
I made two, but they can be as many as you want. I also made them in different sizes, but they can be same sizes or bigger or smaller, in any sizes as you want them to be.
I used this tutorial though I put more pieces on one flower.
Here is how I did.
Cut circles. Use anything that has circle shape as a pattern. I used mugs and glasses.
Fold twice and make a qurter circle shape piece.
Sew quater circle pieces onto circle piece ( this is a base). Repeat folding and sewing until you have good looking fabric flower.
3. Sew fabric flowers onto your skirt.
I sewed small felt piece for strength.
4. Done!! Enjoy putting it on your girl!
This skirt is in Children's section of Skirt Week 2013 of Crafterhours. Please check out other fabulous skirts on Flickr pool!!
And, about bunny applique on A's pink tshirt, I made it using "Make a Bunny Shirt tutorial" from Girl.Inspired for this year's Easter!!
Happy Sewing!!
Turned out very cute! I love the flowers! Thanks for sharing
